Warri Wolves promise to perform better in Champions League

– Peter Nieketien believes his team can turn the tie around in the second leg in a CAF Champions League game
 – Warri Wolves suffered a 2 – 1 home defeat against Sudanese side El-Merekh at the weekend.
– He said their loss was because of his teams’ inability to convert their chances

Warri Wolves’ coach Peter Nieketien believes his team can bounce back from the 2-1 home loss suffered from the Sudanese side El-Merekh at the weekend. He said that his team was unfortunate to have been beaten with the way they played because they could not convert chances created in the match. “El- Merekh is a big team n Africa but notwithstanding our young team had their moments only that we did not convert our chances. “They only had a counter attack which resulted in an early goal,” he said.

He reiterated the fact that his side can score in the away fixture like the visiting team did to his side.

“The door is still open for us to prepare for the second leg, if they can score here we can also score there and we can get a fair result for the second leg,” he said.

Warri Wolves are yet to hit form as they did last season in the Nigeria Premier League (NPL) as the team has come under pressure for non-payment of players’ salaries and some of their top players moving abroad leaving their team to rebuild with new players.
