The creative union between Maddie Ziegler and Sia is obsession-inspiring. And this latest offering, the video for Cheap Thrills, taken from Sia's album This Is Acting, is a winner.
It's a stripped-back showcase of Ziegler's incomparable skills as a dancer, set to Sia's extraordinary vocals.
A strong aesthetic characterises everything Sia and Ziegler have done to date. Costumes are simple - frequently just plain bodysuits and the severe bobbed wigs that have become the singer's signature - and the neglegted-looking sets suggest the potential for something chilling.
The choreography, which is always utterly compelling, is courtesy of Ryan Heffington. Ziegler executes the eery and intense routines perfectly. Add to that Sia's inimitable sound and you have art that is achingly cool.
