Sara Bareilles and Rebel Wilson are to lead the cast of a stage version of Disney's "The Little Mermaid".
The singer/songwriter, who is currently tasting success on Broadway after writing the music for hit show Waitress, will play Ariel in the Hollywood Bowl production, while comedienne Rebel will take on the role of sea witch Ursula.
The production, which will also feature a 71-piece live orchestra, will bow on 4 June (16).
Announcing the casting news on Wednesday (6Apr), Sara said, "I've been pretending I was Ariel in swimming pools since I was a little girl, and now I get to pretend on a bigger stage. This is just fantastic."
Sara hit the Broadway stage last week (ends01Apr16) to fill a gap in her Waitress show following a technical glitch.
The Brave singer, who composed the music and lyrics for the show, was backstage at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on Wednesday (30Mar16) when a set piece malfunctioned during the first act, and while cast and crew were waiting for a fix, Sara walked out and sang Part of Your World, a classic tune from animated musical The Little Mermaid, and invited the bemused audience members to sing along with her.
Sara even took a selfie of herself and the audience, and later posted the shot to Instagram, writing the caption, "Technical difficulty at the Brooks. So Ariel (The Little Mermaid character)."
Towards the end of her song, she was alerted by a crew member that they needed five more minutes to fix the problem, prompting Sara to perform a second song cut from her Waitress musical, called Down at the Diner.
Waitress is already a big Broadway hit - tickets for the first four shows sold out and set a house record at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre for the biggest single performance haul at the venue over the Easter weekend (March 27).
