The General Secretary of CAN, Dr. Musa Asake, said CAN received with rude shock and disbelief the criminal and unwarranted kidnap of its committed members.
It would be recalled that three pastors, President of the United Church of Christ in Nigeria and leader of TEKAN/ECWA bloc of CAN, Dr. Emmanuel Dziggau, his Vice, Rev. Iliya Anto and one Rev. Yakubu Dzarma, were abducted by gunmen in the evening if March 21, along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in Dutse, a few kilometres from Kaduna town.
Dziggau, along with the others, was supervising the construction of an Easter ground in preparation for an Easter retreat for his Church.
Their abductors had demanded a ransom of N100m but recent developments reveal that the abductors have slashed their ransom down to N20m, The Punch gathered.
A family member to Dziggau, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said his abductors placed a call to them and reduced the ransom to N20m.
He said, “They have reduced the ransom from N100m to N20m. The kidnappers contacted the family and have reduced the ransom to N20m. But negotiation is still going on.
