The Dutch full-back is convinced that under Benitez, Newcastle can avoid relegation despite the Spaniard having failed to spark a revival in his two games so far.
Janmaat, however, claims that the former Real Madrid coach offers the Magpies fresh hope.
"We have a top class manager now," he said. "We have to believe he can get us to stay in the Premier League. "He has had a positive effect."
Despite Newcastle losing to Leicester and drawing at hope to Sunderland, Janmaat feels performances have improved since McClaren was in charge and believes Alexsandar Mitrovic's late equaliser in the Tyne-Wear derby can prove a turning point.
