– Sheds light on rumour surrounding her relationship with Mavin Records star Tiwa Savage
Nigerian R&B and pop star Seyi Shay was interviewed on Rubbin Minds on Channels TV on Sunday, March 20 and she spoke on her music and more as well as addressing popular comparisons between her and Mavin Records superstars Tiwa Savage. When asked what her relationship with the Eminado singer is Seyi alluded to the fact that they aren’t close. She also stated that she does not really have friends within the Nigerian music industry.
She said: “I don’t really know her. To be honest with you like I said I don’t really know her personally, I don’t have many friends in the music industry. They are my colleagues and we say hello, we say goodbye. “We invite each other to different functions that are happening, that’s how it is with the female industry.” On why she has not tried to reach out to Tiwa Savage, given the many speculations about their relationship the Murda singer said she would try making efforts this year. She however admitted that Tiwa is a great artiste. She also lauded the Mavins for their musicianship and creativity, adding that if they were not a part of the Nigerian music industry things would not be as exciting as they currently are. On whether her music has put her where she is meant to be, she explained that she is where God wants her to be. She added that Nigerian music is fantastic and getting stronger by the day, and one of the nation’s biggest exports. She also expressed delight that the whole world is watching the Nigerian music space at the moment.
