Killer of Jennifer Hudson's Family Makes Shocking Claim in His First Interview

Jennifer Hudson experienced unspeakable tragedy in 2008 when her mother, brother and 7-year-old nephew were killed at the hands of her sister's estranged husband William Balfour. Hudson's brother-in-law was convicted on three counts of first degree murder in 2012 and sentenced to life in prison. Now, however, Balfour claims he's completely innocent of the murders and has no idea who killed his family.

“I didn't have nothing to do with her family being killed. Period,” he told ABC 7 in his first interview since the 2008 murders. “I didn't have nothing to do with the case and don't know who had anything to do with the case.”

Balfour goes on to claim that his arrest and conviction is part of a larger conspiracy by Chicago police. Prosecutors said Balfour was a jealous man who stalked his wife’s family after she moved out in early 2008. He was on parole for an attempted 1992 murder when he was arrested. After the murders, Hudson's mother and brother were found dead in their home and the 7-year-old was later discovered dead in a car allegedly stolen by Balfour.

Balfour claimed he was set up and that all the evidence against him — from the gun residue found on his clothing to the witnesses who saw him near the crime scene — was concocted by police. “To hear you describe it, this was a huge conspiracy,” the ABC interviewer says. “Exactly, exactly,” he replied. Of prosecutors claims that he had threatened to kill his wife Julia Hudson, Jennifer's sister, he dismissively added, “We wasn't even in a relationship anymore.”

It's sad that the Hudson family has to relive the horror of these murders again.
